Praise continues for Range Rover Evoque

January 2012

The Range Rover Evoque is impressing local and international drivers alike, recently receiving a top award at an international car show.

Crowned 2012 North American Truck (SUV) of the Year at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this month, the Range Rover Evoque beat competitors such as the BMW X3 by a considerable margin.

"Range Rover successfully charts a new direction for the venerable SUV trailblazer with a fresh design and advanced thinking about environmental issues," juror Alex Taylor of Fortune magazine said (January 9).

After finishing in the top three on two previous occasions, the Detroit Motor Show win is the first for the manufacturer in the award's 19-year history.

The Range Rover Evoque - the British marque's first-ever compact SUV - has been on sale in Australia for almost three months.

Boasting the tagline "the smallest, lightest, most fuel-efficient Range Rover ever produced", the SUV comes in three distinct design themes - Pure, Prestige and Dynamic.

Recently, Drive reviewer Stephen Ottley was impressed by features such as the rotary dial gear-changer and the 20.3-centimetre touchscreen, as well as the luxurious cabin ambience.

"One thing the Evoque has is presence," he wrote for Fairfax Media (January 6).

"The Range Rover stylists transferred the show-stopping looks of the LRX concept car almost unchanged into the production-ready Evoque."
